Personal Injury Law

For many, particularly for those innocent of the crime for which they’ve been charged, an arrest is among the most traumatic experiences in life. If you have questions concerning a criminal charge or have been arrested or ticketed for any offense- be it a Felony or a Misdemeanor, in General Sessions, Municipal, Magistrate’s or Traffic Court- call us at 803-909-9415 to schedule a free, confidential consultation. Evening and weekend appointments are available for your convenience: During those hours, Matt can be reached directly by e-mail, at info@mattburgesslaw.com.

FELONIES

An arrest for a crime classified as a Felony is extremely serious; the result can have a long-lasting impact on your life. Many felony offenses carry mandatory minimum jail sentences, and, in some cases, prior convictions can be used to enhance a current charge and mandate enhanced penalties.

MISDEMEANORS

While seemingly insignificant, many magistrate and municipal-level misdemeanor offenses carry 30 days in jail and/or fines. These offenses might result in your driver’s license being suspended, or be used to enhance the penalty for a later arrest. It is important to speak to an attorney concerning your rights and the options available to you- which might include diversion programs such as Pre-Trial Intervention, the Alcohol Education Program or the Traffic Education Program- and whether or not the alleged offense is one eligible for Conditional Discharge.
